This is the nozzle base housing with integrated furniture guard on the underside of the cleaning head. It forms the structural tray that the brushroll, seals, and height-adjust components mount into, and its molded furniture guard is the soft-contact edge that keeps the nozzle from marking table legs, cabinet kickboards, and baseboards.

Because it rides at floor level and bumps furniture all day, the basetray takes impacts and abrasion the rest of the machine never sees.
