The bottom housing (part# K40620090) is the genuine Tacony lower brush-head shell for the 19-inch machines. Everything in the head — brush roll, bearings, glide sole, bumper, foot pedal — mounts into it, and on a wide-path machine worked along corridors it is the part that meets every door frame and kick plate on the route.

This is a genuine Tacony OEM part. It appears on the 19-inch brush head sheet. The 15-inch machines use K40620070, which is the same design in the narrower width.

What the bottom housing does

The housing is the structural floor of the brush head. It sets the brush roll height above the carpet, keeps the bearing seats square so a 19-inch roll spins true along its whole length, and forms the suction path up into the machine. A wide roll is less forgiving of a distorted housing than a narrow one — a small twist at one end shows up as a strip of carpet the machine will not lift.

Cracks around the bearing seats or mounting bosses, a brush roll that grooms unevenly across the width, a head that rocks, or pickup that has dropped while the brush and belt both look serviceable. Impact damage is the usual cause.
