Tornado 19-Inch Bumper K50334570

The bumper (part# K50334570) is the genuine Tacony moulded guard that wraps the front and sides of the 19-inch brush head. It is the part that takes the hit when a wide machine meets a door frame, a desk leg or a baseboard — which on a 19-inch head happens rather more often than on a narrow one.

This is a genuine Tacony OEM part. It appears on the 19-inch brush head sheet. The 15-inch machines use a different bumper, K50324560.

What the bumper does

The bumper protects both the machine and the building. It keeps impact loads off the housing, where a crack would put the brush geometry out, and it keeps the plastic shell off skirting boards and furniture. It is the cheapest part in the head and it exists so the expensive ones survive.

Signs it needs replacing

Splits, gouges, sections torn away from the mounting points, or a bumper that has gone hard and brittle with age. Once it stops standing proud of the housing it has stopped doing its job, even if it still looks present.

Installation and fit

The bumper comes off with the head partly stripped — usually the glide sole and the brush access cover first. Work on a bench with the machine unplugged, and check the housing underneath for cracks while it is exposed, since a bumper this damaged has often been protecting something.
