The circuit board (part# K66822900) is the genuine Tacony control board that runs the brush motor on the dual-motor HEPA uprights. It takes the signal from the head microswitch and controls power to the brush motor independently of the suction motor — the arrangement that gives these machines their two-motor behaviour.

This is a genuine Tacony OEM part. It appears on the brush head sheet for both widths, and the same board serves all four dual-motor HEPA machines. Tacony’s dealer catalogue lists it as “PCB, Vacuums, Upright, Brush”; the parts book calls the same number a Circuit Board.

All four are dual-motor HEPA machines. Single-motor CVD 30, CVD 38 and CV 38 uprights do not have a separate brush-motor board and do not take this part.

What the circuit board does

The board switches and protects the brush motor circuit. It energises the brush motor when the microswitch says the head is down, cuts it when the machine is stood upright, and protects the motor against an overload — a jammed brush roll, for instance — rather than letting it cook.

Signs it needs replacing

A brush motor that will not start with a good belt and a proven microswitch, a brush that cuts out under load and will not restart until the machine has cooled, or visible scorching on the board. A machine that trips a breaker as soon as the head goes down is also worth checking here.

Installation and fit

Bench job, machine unplugged. The board sits in the brush head; photograph the connector positions before unplugging anything, since the leads are not all keyed. Check the brush roll turns freely by hand before powering a new board — fitting a board while the fault that killed it is still there is an expensive way to test a theory.
