The Foam Exhaust Filter Frame (part# K57316140) is the genuine Tacony carrier that holds the foam exhaust filter in the 12-inch Tornado CV 30 and the 15-inch Tornado CV 38. Tacony describes it in its own catalogue as the frame for use with K64147650, the three-pack of foam filters.

The frame matters more than it looks like it should. Foam on its own will not seal against the exhaust opening, so a filter fitted without its frame lets unfiltered air past the edge — the machine appears to be filtering and is not. Frames get lost during servicing, warp if they are washed in hot water, and crack if the foam is dragged out rather than lifted.

Fitting notes

Unplug the machine. Slide the old frame out of the exhaust recess, press a fresh foam pad into it so the foam sits flat against the inside face, and slide it back until it seats squarely. If it needs forcing, it is in the wrong way round.

How to be sure this is your part

This is the frame, not the filter. If what you need is the foam itself, order K64147650. If your machine runs the sealed HEPA cartridge rather than foam, the part you want is K64147600 and this frame is not used.

No. K57316140 is the frame alone. The foam is K64147650 and comes three to a pack, which is the sensible way to buy it because the foam is the part that gets replaced.

Can I run the machine without the frame while I wait for one?

You can run it, but it will not filter properly at the exhaust. Loose foam does not seal to the opening and air takes the easy path around it. If the machine is being used somewhere air quality matters, wait for the frame.
