Genuine Tornado OEM detail tool, 1-1/2 inch by 3-1/2 inch (part# 98350). A detail tool is the in-between size in an extractor tool kit — wider than a crevice tool so it covers a cushion face or a stair tread edge in sensible passes, narrower than a full upholstery tool so it still gets around arms, piping and seat rails. On the Tornado range it is the tool most operators reach for first on furniture and vehicle interiors.
What it covers across the Tornado range
This tool appears on an unusually broad set of Tornado machines: the Marathon 800, 1200 and 2000 self-contained extractors, the compact Mini-Marathon 425, the Marathon Box Extractors, the Surge extractor family and the whole 2-100 and 2-500 CarpetRinser/Dryer line. If you run more than one of those machines, one tool covers all of them, which is worth knowing before you buy a second.
A note on pressure rating
We are not quoting a maximum pressure for this tool because the manufacturer does not publish one against this part number, and inventing a figure for a pressure-rated component is not something we will do. If you are running a high-pressure machine and the rating matters for your job, call us on 763-535-0770 before ordering and we will check it against the current parts data rather than guess. For a known high-pressure alternative, the stainless detail tool rated to 400 p.s.i. (part# AA162.1) carries a published figure.
When to replace it
Replace the tool when the glide face has worn or burred enough to catch or mark fabric, when the jet will not produce an even fan once it has been cleaned out, or when it leaks at the head while you are working. Flushing the tool with clean water at the end of a shift is the single thing that most extends its life, because dried solution in the jet is what turns a good spray pattern into a stream.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the detail tool (part# 98350) used for?
Upholstery and interior work that falls between crevice and full upholstery tools — cushion faces, seat backs, vehicle interiors and tread edges. At 1-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches it covers ground faster than a crevice tool while still reaching around arms, piping and seat rails.
Which Tornado machines does the detail tool (part# 98350) fit?
A broad set: the Marathon 800, Marathon 1200 and Marathon 2000, the Mini-Marathon 425, the Marathon Box Extractors, the Surge extractor family, and the 2-100 and 2-500 CarpetRinser/Dryer machines. One tool covers all of them.
What pressure is the detail tool (part# 98350) rated for?
The manufacturer does not publish a maximum pressure against this part number, so we are not going to quote one. Call 763-535-0770 and we will check the current parts data before you order. If you need a detail tool with a published rating, the stainless 400 p.s.i. tool (part# AA162.1) has one.
