Tornado Microswitch K66301350
$9.99
Genuine Tacony microswitch for the brush-head circuit on the Tornado CV 38/2, CV 48/2, CVD 38/2 and CVD 48/2 dual-motor HEPA uprights.
The microswitch (part# K66301350) is the genuine Tacony switch in the brush-head circuit of the dual-motor HEPA uprights. It is a small, cheap component doing a safety job: it tells the control board whether the head is in a position where the brush motor should be allowed to run.
This is a genuine Tacony OEM part. It appears on the brush head sheet for both widths, and Tacony fits the same switch to all four dual-motor HEPA machines.
Compatible Models for the Microswitch K66301350
- Tornado CV 38/2 (91415) — 15-inch dual motor HEPA
- Tornado CV 48/2 (91419) — 19-inch dual motor HEPA
- Tornado CVD 38/2 (91440) — 15-inch dual motor HEPA
- Tornado CVD 48/2 (91442) — 19-inch dual motor HEPA
All four are dual-motor HEPA machines. Because the brush motor on these runs independently of the suction motor, a failed microswitch produces a machine that sounds completely healthy while the brush roll does nothing.
What the microswitch does
The switch closes a low-current circuit to the control board when the head is in its running position. The board uses that signal to decide whether to power the brush motor. It is the reason the brush stops when the machine is stood upright, and the reason a brush will not start at all when the switch has failed.
Signs it needs replacing
A brush roll that will not turn while the suction motor runs normally, an intermittent brush that cuts in and out as the handle moves, or a brush that keeps running when the machine is stood up. Always check the belt first — a snapped belt gives the same no-brush symptom for a fraction of the cost.
Installation and fit
Bench job with the machine unplugged. The switch sits in the brush head wiring; note the terminal positions before unplugging the leads, and test the new switch by operating the head before reassembling everything.
Frequently Asked Questions
My brush will not turn but the vacuum runs — is it this?
It might be. Check the belt first, since a broken belt is the more common cause and costs less. If the belt is intact and the brush motor never energises, the microswitch and the circuit board are the next things to look at.
Does it fit the single-motor CVD 30 or CVD 38?
No. Tacony lists it against the four dual-motor HEPA machines only.
Is it the same switch on the 15-inch and 19-inch machines?
Yes.
Can I test it before buying?
Yes — a continuity check across the switch while operating the head will tell you whether it is making and breaking properly.
