The top hood cover (part# K40715450) is the genuine Tacony moulded cover that closes the top of the brush head on the CVD dual-motor uprights. It carries the height-adjustment dial, shields the belt and brush motor from debris, and is the surface a customer sees first — which is why a cracked one makes an otherwise sound machine look finished.

This is a genuine Tacony OEM part. It appears on the brush head sheet for both the 15-inch and the 19-inch machine, and Tacony uses the same cover on both.

Unusually for a brush-head part, this one is not width-specific: the same cover fits the 15-inch CVD 38/2 and the 19-inch CVD 48/2. Most other items on the brush head sheet do differ between the two.

What the top hood cover does

The cover keeps carpet fibre, grit and string out of the belt and the brush motor, and it locates the adjusting-wheel mechanism that sets brush height. It is structural as well as cosmetic — the adjustment dial has nothing to register against if the cover is broken around its boss.

Signs it needs replacing

Cracks radiating from the mounting screws, a height dial that spins without changing anything, a cover that no longer clips down flat, or impact damage along the leading edge. Once it stops sealing, debris reaches the belt and belt life drops sharply.
