Frequently Asked Questions
My Tornado Tempest cleans the middle of the floor but leaves the edges — what is wrong?
That is the classic side broom fault. The main brushroll covers the centre path and is unaffected, so the machine looks like it is working. Check whether the side brush (part# K50322210) is turning at all — if not, look at the side broom motor (part# K64542210) after first confirming the brush spins freely by hand.
How often does the side brush need replacing?
It is the fastest-wearing part on the machine, because it is deliberately run against walls and skirting all day. Judge it by reach rather than appearance: set the machine against a wall and see whether the bristle tips still make contact beyond the machine body.
My side brushes keep wearing out unevenly — why?
Usually a bent side broom arm (part# K50979600) or a worn drive disc (part# K56250410). Either lets the brush run out of true, and a wobbling brush wears to a cone in days instead of months. Check both before fitting another brush.
How should the side brush height be set?
So the bristle tips just contact the carpet without visibly bending. Too high and the brush flicks debris rather than moving it; too low and it scrubs, which loads the motor, cuts battery runtime and wears the brush out quickly. The height adjustment bracket (part# K50963980) and star grip (part# K63213430) hold the setting.
Why do two different parts share callout 20 on this diagram?
The factory sheet numbers both the M5 x 20 screw (part# K73031080) and the side broom cap (part# K50342360) as callout 20, with only one marker on the drawing.
