Tornado 98167

Genuine Tornado 98167 parts for the 20″ Marathon 800 self-contained carpet extractor (8 Gallon, 230V). This is the 230-volt build of the Marathon 800 — the same 8-gallon machine as the 115-volt 98166, wired and plumbed for 230-volt supply. Call us at 763-535-0770 or stop by 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428.

What the Tornado 98167 is

The 98167 is a 20-inch self-contained extractor with an 8-gallon recovery tank, a 17-inch carpet brush roller and a solution pump feeding a spray bar behind the brush. Tornado catalogues it as Series B through Series F; these pages are built from the Series F parts book, the current series. The machine shares its chassis, tank, brush and nearly all of its hardware with the 115-volt 98166 Marathon 800, which is why most part numbers on this page carry both models.

Which Tornado 98167 parts are 230-volt specific

Six part numbers differ from the 115-volt machine, and they are the ones that carry voltage: the 230VAC solution pump (32227), the 230-volt solenoid valve (32228), the 220-volt 1/4 HP brush motor (X9119-TI), the 230-volt EU-plug power cord assembly (31094), and the strain relief (19929) and nut (30261) that secure that cord at the control panel. These are not interchangeable with their 115-volt counterparts. Everything else on the machine — bearings, bushings, hoses, gaskets, the brush roller, the tank and the frame — is shared.

How Tornado 98167 parts are organised

Parts are grouped the way the factory book groups them: brush assembly, the two chassis sheets, control panel, main assembly, tank assembly, the two pump views, and a service-parts list of the items that wear out. Pick the assembly your part belongs to and work from its diagram number.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tornado 98167 Marathon 800 parts

Is the Tornado 98167 the same machine as the 98166?

Mechanically they are the same 20-inch, 8-gallon Marathon 800 self-contained extractor. The difference is electrical: the 98167 is the 230-volt build. The chassis, tank, nozzle, brush roller and plumbing parts carry across, while the pump, solenoid valve, brush motor and power cord are voltage-specific and must not be swapped between the two.

Which Tornado 98167 parts are 230-volt specific?

Six: the 1/4 HP 220V brush motor X9119-TI, the 100 PSI 230VAC pump 32227, the 1/4 in. port 230V solenoid valve 32228, the 230V EU-plug power cord assembly 31094, the strain relief 19929 and the slotted jam nut 30261 that secures it. Fitting a 115-volt pump or valve to a 230-volt machine will not work and is not safe.

Can I get a vacuum motor for my Tornado 98167?

No. The Series F book for the 98167 lists no vacuum motor on any of its nine sheets, where the 115-volt 98166 lists one on the tank sheet. We have not substituted the 115-volt motor to fill the gap. If you need a vacuum motor for a 230-volt machine, call 763-535-0770 with your serial number so we can identify the correct one rather than ordering from the 115-volt list.

How do I order Tornado 98167 parts or get help identifying one?

You can order any Tornado 98167 part on this page directly from its own product page, or call us at 763-535-0770. Our staff at 5415 West Broadway, Crystal, MN 55428 has been servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 and can confirm the right part against your machine’s serial number before you buy.
