Bag Mount Assembly D431-4300

The Bag Mount Assembly (part# D431-4300) is the moulded fitting the paper bag collar seats onto on the Tornado CK-LW 13/1 ProLite, models 97130 (115V) and 97131 (230V), and on the Powr-Flite PF62EC.

Everything the machine picks up passes through this fitting, so its condition decides whether the debris ends up in the bag or in the bag compartment. The seal is made between the mount, the gasket and the bag collar; if any of the three is worn or distorted, fine dust escapes at the joint and the operator finds a grey film inside the bag housing and on the back of the machine. That leak also costs suction, because air is entering the stream after the nozzle instead of through it.

Inspecting it

Take a bag out and run a finger around the mouth of the mount. It should be smooth and true, with no chips at the lip and no cracking around the screw bosses. A mount that has been forced — usually by pushing a bag on at an angle in a hurry — develops a hairline split that opens under suction and closes when the machine is off, which is why the fault can be invisible on the bench. If you are fitting a new mount, fit a new bag mount gasket, part number B211-4414B, at the same time: the gasket takes a set against the old mount and will not seal properly against a new one.
