What the Control Board Assembly Does

The board is what sits between the on/off switch and the motor. It takes the operator’s input and delivers mains power to the motor cleanly, which is what stops the switch itself having to carry the full motor current. On a machine that gets switched on and off dozens of times a day in commercial cleaning, moving that duty off the switch contacts is what makes both parts last.

When to Replace It

Replace the board when the machine is dead with a known-good cord and a known-good switch, when it runs intermittently, or when there is a burnt smell around the cord entry. Before ordering, check the cord for damage and the switch for a loose spade terminal — those two account for most no-run faults and are cheaper to fix.

Fitting Notes

Photograph the wiring before you disconnect anything. The machine has a wiring diagram sheet in the Tacony documentation, and getting a lead back on the wrong terminal on a mains-voltage board is not a mistake you want to make twice. This is the 120-volt board; 230-volt machines take 39274.

Possibly, but check the cheaper things first: the power cord for damage along its length and at the strain relief, and the on/off switch assembly for a loose or corroded terminal. If the cord and switch are both sound and the motor is not dead, the board is the next thing to look at.
