Insulation, Lower 39268

This is the lower of the two insulation pads inside the Tornado TV 2 SS dry canister and the Simplicity Brio. Tacony calls both pads simply “Insulation” and publishes no dimension for either, so we have named them by position on the exploded view: this one sits below the motor next to the insulation plate, and part number 39264 is the upper pad. Separate part numbers, separate UPCs — two different pieces.

What the Insulation, Lower Does

Like its partner above the motor, this pad is there for noise rather than heat. It lines the lower part of the motor area so that what the motor puts out is absorbed rather than transmitted into the shell and the floor. It works together with the insulation plate that sits alongside it, which holds it in position against the airflow.

Where It Sits on the Machine

It is fitted below the motor, between the motor cover assembly and the insulation plate, shown on the TV 2 SS main assembly diagram.

When to Replace It

Replace it when it has compressed flat, torn, come away from its location or been soaked. The symptom is a machine that has simply got louder over time. Because the two pads have done the same hours, replacing both together is usually the sensible call, and they cost very little.

Fitting Notes

The two pads are shaped for their own positions and are not interchangeable, so check you are fitting the lower one here. Make sure the insulation plate goes back over it correctly — without the plate the pad can shift into the airflow, which is both noisy and bad for the motor.
