#10-32 is the finer of the two #10 threads Tacony uses on this machine, and the finer pitch is deliberate: more threads per inch means more thread engagement in the same depth and a joint that holds torque better under vibration. A finished hex nut has chamfered corners and a bearing face machined square to the thread, so it seats flat and does not gall the washer under it.
This is a plain nut with no locking feature, so it depends on correct torque and on the washer stack under it to stay put. Replace any nut with rounded flats from a slipping wrench, a stripped or cross-threaded bore, or corrosion heavy enough to bind on the thread. If a nut has been over-torqued and the flats are spread, replace both it and its screw — the thread on the screw will usually have stretched at the same time.

No. 01604 is #10-32 — a finer thread than the #10-24 nuts used elsewhere on the CK 3030, such as the Nyloc nuts and the KEPS nut. The two will start on each other’s threads and then jam, so check the pitch before fitting. If a nut goes on two turns and stops, you have the wrong one.
