Tornado Crimp Clamp 1/2 in. ID Stainless X2165

$2.99

Genuine Tornado OEM one-ear crimp clamp, 1/2 in. inside diameter stainless (part# X2165), used to secure hose connections on Tornado carpet spotters. Crimped closed for even clamping pressure all the way round the hose — a single-use fastener, so fit a new one whenever the joint is taken apart. See the compatibility list below.

The Tornado Crimp Clamp X2165 is the genuine OEM stainless one-ear clamp that secures the solution and vacuum hose connections on the PS Series professional spotter. Tornado’s dealer catalog lists it as “Clamp, Crimp, 1/2 in ID, SS”, and the factory parts book calls the same part a one-eared hose clamp — two names, one part number.

The factory cross-reference lists this clamp against a small number of other machines whose catalog numbers we have not been able to confirm, so we have not published them here. Call us at 763-535-0770 with your model and serial number and we will check the full fitment for you before you order.

What a one-ear crimp clamp does

A one-ear clamp is a closed stainless band with a single raised ear. You slide it over the hose, push the hose onto its barb or cuff, then close the ear with crimping pincers. Squeezing the ear shortens the band’s circumference and locks it, applying even pressure all the way round the hose rather than the point load a screw-type worm clamp leaves. On a spotter that matters: the connections carry solution at 55 PSI on one side and vacuum on the other, and an uneven clamp is what turns a damp fitting into a leak. This clamp has a 1/2 inch inside diameter and is stainless, so it survives the detergent and moisture it lives in.

When to replace it

A crimp clamp is a single-use fastener. Once the ear has been closed it cannot be reopened and re-crimped reliably, so any time you pull a hose off a barb for service, fit a new clamp on reassembly rather than trying to reuse the old one. Replace one on sight if you find the ear cracked, the band distorted, or rust forming, and replace it if the hose is weeping at the joint even when the clamp looks intact — a band that has lost its spring will not come back.

Fitting notes

Use proper one-ear clamp pincers, not pliers: pincers close the ear squarely and leave the band round, whereas pliers crush the ear sideways and let the band go oval. Position the clamp over the barb’s shoulder, not past the end of it. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956 and stocks spotter hose hardware in Crystal, Minnesota.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Crimp Clamp X2165 do on the Tornado PS Spotter 98220?

It clamps a hose onto its barb or cuff on the recovery tank connections. The single ear is crimped closed, which pulls the stainless band evenly tight around the hose instead of loading one spot the way a screw clamp does.

Can I reuse a one-ear crimp clamp?

No. Once the ear is crimped the clamp is set, and reopening it leaves the band distorted and the clamping force unreliable. Fit a new X2165 whenever you take that hose joint apart.

What size is the Crimp Clamp X2165?

It is a 1/2 inch inside diameter stainless one-ear clamp. Tornado’s catalog records it as “Clamp, Crimp, 1/2 in ID, SS”.

How do I order the Crimp Clamp (part# X2165) or get help?
