The True HEPA Filter Cartridge (part# K64147600) is the genuine Tacony exhaust cartridge for the 12-inch Tornado CV 30 and the 15-inch Tornado CV 38. It is listed on Tacony’s Common Replacement Items sheet for both machines, which is where the parts that get changed on a schedule live.

This is the filter that makes the machine a HEPA machine. Everything the bag does not catch ends up here, which is why a cartridge that has done a year of commercial hours costs you suction long before it looks dirty. The symptom operators notice is a vacuum that has lost its pull with a brand-new bag fitted and a clear hose — that is almost always the exhaust cartridge.

Fitting notes

Unplug the machine and open the exhaust cover at the back of the body. Lift the old cartridge straight out rather than pulling it sideways, which tears the pleats and drops debris back into the housing. Wipe the recess clean before the new one goes in, and make sure the cartridge sits flat all round.

How to be sure this is your part

The cartridge is the pleated one with a frame moulded around it, not a flat foam pad. If your machine has foam at the exhaust instead, you are running the foam option and want K64147650 with its frame K57316140. Both arrangements are correct for these models — Tacony offers the foam as an alternative to HEPA.

How often should it be changed?

Tacony publishes no fixed interval because it depends entirely on hours run and what the machine picks up. The practical test is airflow: fit a fresh bag, check the hose is clear, and if suction is still down, change the cartridge. Annually is typical in daily commercial use.

Can it be washed out and reused?

No. Washing a pleated HEPA cartridge collapses the media and destroys the rating even when it looks fine afterwards. It is a replace-only part, and at this price it is not worth the risk to the motor.
