Tornado Drag Wand Nozzle Assembly 983476M-01
Genuine Tornado OEM nozzle assembly (part# 983476M-01) for the PS Series drag wand 98347 — the head of the wand, where solution is laid down and the recovery airflow lifts it back out. Poor recovery with normal suction at the hose is the classic sign that the lip is no longer sealing flat on the carpet. Factory-order item: call 763-535-0770 for current pricing. Fits the Tornado PS Spotter 98220 and the Mini-Marathon 98150.
The Tornado Drag Wand Nozzle Assembly 983476M-01 is the genuine OEM replacement nozzle assembly for the PS Series drag wand — the business end of the wand, where the solution is laid down and the recovery airflow lifts it back out.
Compatible Models for the Drag Wand Nozzle Assembly
- Tornado PS Spotter 98220 — PS Series Professional Spotter (2 gal, 115V), Series G

Tornado’s factory cross-reference for this assembly is complete rather than truncated: two machines, the PS Spotter 98220 and the Mini-Marathon 98150. It is a service part for the PS Series Drag Wand 98347 rather than for the machine directly. Call us at 763-535-0770 with your model and serial number if yours is not listed.
It is not currently listed in the dealer catalog we price from, which is why there is no price shown here. Call 763-535-0770 and we will quote it and confirm availability.
What the nozzle assembly does
Everything upstream of the nozzle — the pump, the hose, the valve — exists to deliver solution at pressure and vacuum at volume. The nozzle is what turns both into actual cleaning.
Its shape is doing two jobs at once. The slot presents a controlled opening to the carpet so that the recovery airflow is concentrated into a narrow, fast-moving stream rather than spread thinly over a wide mouth — air velocity is what lifts soil-laden water out of pile, and velocity comes from restricting the opening. At the same time the lip has to sit flat enough to seal against the carpet through the whole backward stroke, because every gap is air taken in from the room instead of out of the carpet.
That is why a nozzle’s condition shows up in the finished work rather than in the machine’s gauges. Suction at the hose can be perfectly normal while a distorted or chipped nozzle leaves carpet wetter than it should be.
When to replace it
Replace the nozzle assembly if the lip is chipped, cracked, split or has a piece missing; if the lip is no longer straight, so it rocks instead of sitting flat; if the slot has been widened by wear or by something being poked through it; if the assembly is distorted from heat or from being stood on; or if it will not seat and seal on its threaded connection.
The symptom to watch for is poor recovery with normal suction. If the machine pulls well at the hose end but the carpet is coming up wetter than it used to, and the jet and valve check out, the nozzle is the next thing to look at. Lay the head on a flat surface and look along the lip from the side: any daylight under it is lost airflow.
Also inspect it whenever the wand is dropped. A nozzle takes the impact before anything else on the tool does.
Fitting notes
Depressurise the system and let the machine cool before you start. Note how the old assembly is oriented before removing it; the nozzle is not symmetrical and it does not clean fitted the wrong way round.
Clean the mating surfaces so the new assembly seats properly, and do not overtighten — a nozzle housing cracked by over-torquing is a common and entirely avoidable failure. Check that the lip sits flat on a known flat surface once fitted, then test on an offcut or an inconspicuous area before working on a customer’s carpet.
Flush the wand with clean water at the end of each day. Detergent dried in a nozzle slot narrows it unevenly, which does the same thing to the spray and recovery pattern as mechanical damage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Drag Wand Nozzle Assembly 983476M-01 do?
It is the head of the wand, where solution is laid down and the recovery airflow lifts it back out. The slot concentrates the airflow into a narrow, fast stream — velocity is what pulls soil-laden water out of carpet pile — while the lip seals against the carpet so the air comes out of the carpet rather than in from the room.
My machine still has strong suction but the carpet comes up wet. Is this the part?
Quite possibly. Poor recovery with normal suction at the hose is the classic nozzle symptom, once the jet and the valve have checked out. Lay the head on a flat surface and sight along the lip — any daylight under it is airflow being lost to the room instead of lifting water out of the carpet.
