Genuine Tornado OEM screw (part# 19617) — the fastener that secures the transport handle to the main body on the PS Series spotters, and a control panel fastener on the Marathon 2000. Fits the Tornado PS Spotter 98220, 98221, 98225 and Marathon 2000. Call 763-535-0770.
The Tornado Screw 19617 is the genuine OEM fastener that secures the transport handle to the main body on the PS Series professional spotters, and the same screw is used in the control panel assembly of the Marathon 2000. Tornado’s parts catalog lists it simply as “Screw” with no published thread size, so the part number is the only reliable way to order it. It also fits the Tornado PS8226 Spotter 98226, the 230-volt build of the deluxe PS Series spotter.

Where this screw is used
On a PS Series spotter this is a handle fastener. The transport handle is a bent tube that bolts through the back plate of the machine, and these screws are what hold it there. That makes them a wear point in a way an internal fastener is not: the handle is what the operator grabs to lift a 20-pound machine in and out of a vehicle, so every lift puts a load through these screws and the threads they run into. On the Marathon 2000 the same screw appears in the control panel assembly, holding panel hardware rather than a handle.
When to replace it
Replace a handle screw whenever the head is rounded out, the threads are stripped or stretched, or the screw has begun to back out under load. A handle that has developed any play at its mounting points is the symptom most operators notice first, and a loose handle is worth fixing immediately rather than at the next service — a handle that lets go mid-lift takes the machine with it. If you are refitting a handle, replace the screws rather than reusing fasteners that have already been torqued and loaded.
Fitting note from the factory drawing
The Tornado assembly drawing for this section carries an explicit instruction: do not over-tighten the screws when attaching the handle to the main body. The handle mounts into a moulded housing, and over-torquing is the quickest way to strip the threads you are trying to secure. Snug them evenly and stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Tornado Screw 19617 do?
On the PS Series spotters it fastens the transport handle to the main body of the machine. On the Tornado Marathon 2000 the same screw is used in the control panel assembly.
What size is the Tornado Screw 19617?
Tornado does not publish a thread size for this one. The factory parts book lists it only as “Screw”, and it is not carried as a stocked line on the dealer catalog, so the part number 19617 is the only dependable way to identify it. Call us at 763-535-0770 if you need it matched against a screw you already have.
What models is the Tornado Screw 19617 (part# 19617) compatible with?
The Tornado PS Spotter 98220, the 230-volt PS8221 Spotter 98221, the PS8225 Spotter 98225, and the Tornado Marathon 2000 22″ extractor. On the spotters it is a handle fastener; on the Marathon 2000 it sits in the control panel assembly.
