Fits the PS Spotter 98220, 98221 and 98225 — see the compatibility list below.

The Tornado Switch Label 19611 is the genuine OEM control decal for the PS Series professional spotters. The parts book describes it as the “Vacuum Only / Off / Vacuum / Spray” switch label — the marking that tells the operator what each position of the control switch actually does. It also fits the Tornado PS8226 Spotter 98226, the 230-volt build of the deluxe PS Series spotter.

What this label is for

This is not a warning decal and it is not branding. It is the machine’s control legend: the only thing on the machine that maps a switch position to a function. The spotter’s rocker switch selects between vacuum alone, off, and vacuum with spray — and without the legend the switch is three unlabelled positions.

What that costs in practice is worth spelling out, because it is easy to dismiss a missing decal as cosmetic. An operator who cannot read the legend finds the right position by trial. On a machine that sprays solution, the wrong guess puts solution onto carpet with no recovery running, or runs the pump when nobody intended it to. On a shift where the machine is handed between people, the knowledge of “which way is spray” lives in whoever used it last.

It also matters for the next person to service the machine. A technician diagnosing a switch fault needs to know which position is supposed to do what before they can tell whether the switch, the wiring or the pump is at fault. An unlabelled control turns a ten-minute check into guesswork.

And this label sits in one of the worst positions on the machine for wear: on the control panel, where it is touched by a wet hand every time the machine is used. Abrasion from fingertips, not sunlight, is what usually finishes it.

When to replace it

Replace it when any position’s text can no longer be read with confidence — and that includes the case where one word has worn away and the rest are fine, because a legend with a gap in it is a legend that has to be guessed at.

Replace it if it is faded or bleached by detergent, worn through by handling, cracked or crazed, scratched or scuffed, lifting or curling at an edge, stained or bubbled where solution has wicked underneath, or if it has been covered with tape or a hand-written marking. Replace it if it has been removed and never put back.

The right moment is any service when the panel is accessible and dry — and particularly when the rocker switch itself is replaced, since the panel is already open and the new switch deserves a legible legend beside it. Check the machine’s other markings in the same pass.

Fitting notes

Alignment matters more here than on any other label on the machine. The legend has to line up with the switch so that each wording sits against the position it describes; a label fitted a few millimetres off, or upside down relative to the switch, is worse than no label because it is confidently wrong. Dry-fit it against the switch before removing the backing and confirm the orientation.

Prepare the surface properly: remove the old label and all adhesive residue, clean with a solvent suitable for the panel material, and let it dry completely. Adhesive will not key to detergent film, polish or a damp surface, and a control-panel label that lifts at one edge will be picked at by the next operator’s thumb.

Apply at room temperature rather than on a cold machine, lay one edge down and smooth across to avoid trapping air, then press firmly around the edges and leave it to bond before the machine is washed or put back into service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Switch Label 19611 show?

It is the machine’s control legend for the rocker switch, marking the vacuum-only, off, and vacuum-with-spray positions. It is the only thing on the machine that maps a switch position to a function.

Why replace the Switch Label if the switch still works?

Because without the legend the switch is three unlabelled positions. An operator finds the right one by trial, which on a machine that sprays solution means putting solution down with no recovery running or running the pump unintentionally. It also slows down any later diagnosis, since a technician needs to know which position should do what.

Does it matter exactly where the Switch Label goes?

Yes, more than on any other label here. Each wording has to line up with the switch position it describes, so dry-fit it against the switch and confirm the orientation before removing the backing. A label fitted slightly off, or upside down relative to the switch, is worse than none because it is confidently wrong.
