Tornado Tempest Bungee Strap K69076750

This is the bungee strap used on the Tornado Tempest. Tacony’s dealer record names it Bungee Strap; the parts book prints the same number against Loop. Two are fitted per machine, and they work with their own grips and metal holders.

What the Bungee Strap Does

The straps hold the filter and duct assembly closed under constant tension. Elastic retention is used here rather than a rigid latch because the assembly has to be opened routinely for filter service, and because a bungee keeps pulling as gaskets compress and settle. When a strap loses its elasticity, the seal it was holding starts to leak.

When to Replace It

Replace a strap when it has lost tension, when the rubber has perished or gone hard, or when the ends have pulled. Elastic is a consumable and it ages whether or not the machine works hard. Replace both together so the assembly is pulled down evenly.

Fitting Notes

Check the metal holders while the straps are off, because a bent holder will chew straps. Route the new strap the same way as the old one and make sure it pulls square rather than dragging over an edge, which is where a strap wears through first.
