This is the washer gasket that sits in the Tornado Tempest caster mount. Tacony’s dealer record names it Washer Gasket, Castor, which is what separates it from the plain metal washers used at the same joint — this is a gasket, not a load-spreading washer, and the two do different jobs.

What the Caster Washer Gasket Does

It seats between the caster mount and the housing, taking up the small variations between the two faces and keeping grit and carpet fibre out of the joint. Keeping that joint clean is what lets the caster continue to swivel smoothly; a mount packed with fibre is the usual reason a caster stiffens up long before its bearing is actually worn.

When to Replace It

Replace the gasket whenever the caster is removed, and any time it has hardened, compressed flat or torn. Gaskets take a permanent set in service, so a used one will not seal properly the second time. It costs far less than the caster it protects.

Fitting Notes

Clean both faces before fitting — compacted fibre on the mating surfaces will hold the joint apart and undo the point of the gasket. Keep the original stack order: reinforcement plate, washer gasket, caster mount, then washer and nut. Tighten the M10 hardware firmly and check the caster swivels freely afterwards.

No. The M10 washer, K73120050, is a hardened flat washer that spreads the nut load. K51150470 is a gasket that seals and takes up the joint. Both are used at the caster and they are not interchangeable.

Do I need a new gasket every time the caster comes off?

We would fit one, yes. Gaskets compress and take a set in service, so a used one does not seal as well the second time, and the whole reason it is there is to keep grit out of a joint that has to keep swivelling. It is a low-cost part relative to the caster.
