This is the connecting link in the Tornado Tempest filter shaker. Tacony’s parts book names it Connecting Link and there is no alternative dealer description for the number, so that is the name we have used.

What the Connecting Link Does

The link is the arm that carries drive from the shaker motor to the cleaning mechanism. It is the component that actually transmits the force, so it sees the full load of the shaker every time the operator runs it. A bent link changes the stroke of the cleaning bar; a cracked one lets the shaker run with nothing happening at the filter.

Where It Sits on the Machine

It runs between the shaker drive and the fork head on the Tempest filter and blower diagram, pivoting on its bushing.

When to Replace It

Replace the link if it is bent, cracked, or has worn its pivot holes oval. The symptom of a worn link is a cleaning bar that no longer reaches the full width of the filter, which shows up as a filter that stays clean in the middle and loads at the edges. Check the bushings and pivot at the same time.

Fitting Notes

Keep the linkage in its original relationship on reassembly. Fit the link with new bushings if there is any play, work the mechanism through a complete cycle by hand, and confirm the cleaning bar contacts the filter across its full width at both ends of the stroke.
