Tacony’s parts book gives it no description beyond Bushing and there is no dealer record for the number, so we have named it for the assembly it appears in. It is a different part from the bushing on the shaker assembly breakdown, which carries its own number.

What the Filter and Blower Bushing Does

Bushings are the bearing surfaces in a linkage. This one sits at a pivot in the filter shaker drive, where a rotating or reversing motion has to be carried without the two metal components wearing on each other. It is a cheap part protecting more expensive ones, which is the usual reason to replace it early rather than late.

It is fitted at a linkage pivot on the Tempest filter and blower diagram, alongside the connecting link.

When to Replace It

Replace the bushing when there is play at its pivot, when it has worn oval, or as a matter of course whenever the shaker linkage is apart. Play at one pivot loads the others, so a worn bushing left in place shortens the life of the link and the fork head either side of it.

Fitting Notes

Check the shaft or pin it runs on as well — fitting a new bushing onto a worn pin puts the play straight back. Reassemble the linkage in its original relationship and work it by hand through a full cycle before powering up.
