Tornado Tempest Filter and Blower Seal K53650850

This is a seal used in the Tornado Tempest filter and blower assembly. Tacony’s parts book describes it only as Seal and there is no dealer record for the number, so we have named it for the assembly it belongs to. It is a different part from the seal shown on the shaker assembly breakdown, which carries its own number and a different fitted quantity.

What the Filter and Blower Seal Does

A sweeper’s filtration is only as good as its seals. Every joint in the air path between the hopper and the vacuum motor has to be closed, because air that finds a way round the filter carries its dust load straight back into the room. This seal closes one of those joints.

It is fitted in the filter and blower assembly on the Tempest filter and blower diagram, near the cap and the linkage bushing.

When to Replace It

Replace the seal when it has hardened, torn or taken a permanent set, and whenever the assembly is opened for other work. Seals stiffen with age even on lightly used machines, and a seal that has been compressed for a year will not recover once disturbed.

Fitting Notes

Clean the sealing faces before fitting — compacted dust holds a new seal off just as effectively as a worn one. Seat it along its full length without stretching, and check the assembly closes evenly onto it before putting the machine back to work.
