This is the filter cleaning bar for the Tornado Tempest. Tacony’s parts book names it Filter Cleaning Bar and there is no separate dealer description for the number. It is the component that carries the cleaning elements across the face of the filter.

What the Filter Cleaning Bar Does

Everything else in the shaker exists to move this bar. It has to stay straight across the full width of the filter, because any bow in it lifts the cleaning elements away from the media in the middle or at the ends. A bar that is true keeps the whole filter face clear; a bowed one leaves a band of the filter permanently loaded.

Where It Sits on the Machine

It runs across the filter inside the housing, shown on both the Tempest filter and blower diagram and the shaker assembly diagram, driven through the angle joint and covered by its bar cover.

When to Replace It

Replace the bar if it is bent, cracked, or has worn at the points where the cleaning elements mount. The tell-tale is a filter that stays clean in a band and loads elsewhere, with the linkage otherwise sound. Check the bar against a straightedge rather than by eye, because a bow of a couple of millimetres is enough to matter.

Fitting Notes

Fit the bar before the cleaning elements and check it runs parallel to the filter face along its whole travel. Then fit the cleaner plate and stripper and confirm by hand that they contact across the full width at both ends of the stroke.
