This is the filter housing for the Tornado Tempest. Tacony’s dealer record names it Filter Housing; the parts book prints the same number against Filter Holder. It is the box that carries the pre-filter and the main PTFE filter and presents them to the airflow.

What the Filter Housing Does

A filter only works if every route around it is closed, and the housing is what closes them. It holds the filter square, provides the sealing faces the top and bottom gaskets bear against, and carries the cleaning bar mechanism that keeps the filter clear. A cracked or distorted housing lets air bypass the filter entirely, which puts dust straight back into the room while airflow reads perfectly normal.

When to Replace It

Replace the housing if it is cracked, if a sealing face has been damaged, or if it has been distorted so the filter no longer seats square. Impact damage and over-tightened retention are the usual causes. If dust is getting past a filter you know is sound and sealed, the housing is the next thing to inspect.
