This is the frame that backs the front skirt on the Tornado Tempest. Tacony’s dealer record names it Frame, Front Skirt; the printed parts book calls the same number Bracket. It is a different part from the front skirt metal plate that clamps the skirt from the front.

What the Front Skirt Frame Does

The frame is what the skirt assembly is built against at the leading edge of the machine. It sets how far the skirt hangs and holds the whole assembly square to the floor. The clamping plate can be replaced on its own after a light knock; the frame is the piece that decides the geometry, and when it moves, no new skirt will seal properly.

It fits along the front edge of the bottom housing on the Tempest handle and frame diagram, behind the front skirt and its metal plate.

When to Replace It

Replace the frame if it has bent, cracked or elongated its mounting holes. The symptom is a front seal that will not sit right no matter how many skirts and plates are fitted, or a skirt that contacts the carpet at one end and lifts at the other. It is one of the least expensive parts on the machine, so there is no reason to persevere with a damaged one.

Fitting Notes

Check it against a straightedge before deciding. Fit the frame first and tighten its mounting hardware, then build the skirt and plate onto it. With the machine at working height the front skirt should contact carpet evenly across the whole width.

Check the front skirt metal plate for a bend first, then this frame. Either one being out of flat will lift the skirt somewhere along its width, and a new skirt cannot correct for it. Both are inexpensive parts, and a straightedge across each of them will usually find the culprit in a couple of minutes.
