This is the hinge shaft in the Tornado Tempest filter and blower assembly. Tacony’s parts book names it Hinge Shaft and there is no separate dealer description for the number. It is the pin the assembly pivots on when it is opened for filter service.

What the Hinge Shaft Does

The filter assembly has to open regularly and close back onto its seals in exactly the same position every time. The hinge shaft is what guarantees that. When it wears, the assembly drops a little as it closes and the seals no longer bear evenly, which shows up as dust getting past a filter that is in perfect condition.
