This is the prefilter stripper for the Tornado Tempest. The parts book names it Prefilter Stripper; Tacony’s dealer system lists the same number as Filter Cleaner. We have used the parts-book name here because the dealer name is also used for a different part on the same assembly, and confusing the two costs people money.

What the Prefilter Stripper Does

The pre-filter takes the coarse fibre and grit before the main filter sees it, and it would pack solid within a shift if nothing kept it clear. The stripper does that, scraping the accumulated material off as the mechanism works so it falls into the hopper rather than blinding the media.
