Tornado Tempest Right Handle Bracket K40409620

The right handle bracket ties the push handle to the right side of the Tornado Tempest chassis. Tacony’s dealer record names it Handle Bracket Right, while the parts book prints the same number against Right Handle Connection. It is the mirror of the left bracket and is not interchangeable with it.

What the Right Handle Bracket Does

Together with its partner on the left, this bracket carries every load the operator applies to the machine and holds the handle pivot that lets the handle fold for storage. Because the two brackets share the load, a failure on one side quickly overloads the other, which is why a cracked bracket is worth replacing promptly rather than running on.

Where It Sits on the Machine

It is fitted on the Tempest handle and frame diagram, on the right-hand side of the bottom housing, with the push handle bolted through it and clamped by the yellow star grips.

When to Replace It

Look for cracks around the pivot, a bent flange, or a pivot hole that has worn oval. Symptoms are a handle that rocks, a machine that pulls to one side, or a handle that will no longer clamp solidly at working height. Impact damage from doorframes, kerbs and loading docks is the usual cause in commercial use.

Fitting Notes

Take the weight of the handle before you unbolt anything. Fit the bracket loosely, locate the handle, then tighten both sides together so the handle is not pulled out of square. Cycle the handle through its fold-down and working positions and confirm the star grips clamp it without play before the machine goes back into service.

Is the right bracket the same part as the left?

No. They are handed and carry different part numbers — K40409620 on the right and K40409610 on the left. Order by side, and if you are replacing after an impact it is worth inspecting both while the handle is off.

Do I need new hardware with the bracket?

Not usually. The M8 x 25 screws, washers and yellow star grips transfer from the old bracket if they are in good condition. If the pivot hardware is worn or the thread on a star grip is damaged, those are separate part numbers on the same diagram and we can supply them alongside the bracket.
