This is the bushing used in the Tornado Tempest filter shaker assembly. Tacony’s dealer record for this number reads simply BUSH, so we have named it for the assembly it appears in rather than inventing a description. It is a different part from the bushing on the filter and blower sheet, which carries its own number.

What the Shaker Assembly Bushing Does

The shaker mechanism converts a rotating motor output into the back-and-forth travel of the cleaning bar, and every pivot in that chain needs a bearing surface. A bushing is what lets a pivot turn thousands of times a day without the two metal parts wearing each other away. When it wears, the play shows up as a cleaning bar that rattles and no longer sweeps a consistent line.

When to Replace It

Replace the bushing when there is visible play at its pivot, when it has worn oval, or whenever the shaker linkage is apart for other work. It costs very little and it is the part that protects the more expensive components either side of it.

Fitting Notes

Note the order of assembly before you take the linkage apart. Everything in the shaker chain has to go back in the same relationship or the cleaning bar will not sweep the full face of the filter. Work the mechanism by hand through a complete cycle before closing the machine up.

Worn bushings in the shaker linkage are a common cause of exactly that. Check each pivot for play with the machine off. A rattle usually means at least one bushing has worn oval, and they are inexpensive enough to replace as a set while the linkage is apart.
