This is the seal used in the Tornado Tempest filter shaker assembly. Tacony’s parts book describes it only as Seal, and there is no dealer record for the number, so we have named it for the assembly it is shown in. Two are fitted, and it appears on both the shaker assembly breakdown and the filter and blower breakdown because the two assemblies meet there.

What the Shaker Assembly Seal Does

The shaker mechanism passes through the wall of the filter chamber, and wherever something moving crosses that boundary there has to be a seal. Without it, the dust the shaker is knocking off the filter escapes through the opening the shaker itself needs. These two seals close that path.

The pair are fitted where the shaker mechanism enters the filter chamber, shown on both the Tempest shaker assembly diagram and the filter and blower diagram.

When to Replace It

Replace both seals when either has hardened, torn or taken a set, and whenever the shaker linkage is dismantled. They age together and they are disturbed together, so replacing one and leaving the other is false economy on a part of this cost.

Fitting Notes

Clean the faces they seat against before fitting and do not stretch them into place. Work the shaker mechanism by hand afterwards to confirm the seals have not been pinched or dragged out of position by the moving parts.
