What the Side Skirt Frame Does

The frame is the rigid backbone the skirt assembly is built on. It carries the skirt channel, sets the height of the sealing edge above the floor, and takes the impacts that side skirts inevitably collect. The clamping plate can be replaced on its own for a light knock; when the frame itself has moved, the whole side seal geometry has changed.

Replace a frame that has been bent, cracked, or has elongated its mounting holes. The symptom is a side seal that will not sit right no matter how many skirts and plates you fit, or a skirt that contacts the carpet at one end and lifts at the other. Heavy impacts against loading bays and door frames are the usual cause.

Fitting Notes

Check the frame against a straightedge before deciding. Fit it before the skirt and plate, tighten the mounting hardware fully, then build the skirt and plate onto it. With the machine at working height, the skirt should contact carpet evenly along the whole run.
