This is the upper half of the two-piece top cover on the Tornado TV 2 SS dry canister vacuum. Unlike the lower cover, which Tacony shares with another canister, this upper cover is specific to the TV 2 SS — its where-used record names Model 93282 and nothing else.

What the Upper Top Cover Kit Does

The upper cover is the visible top of the machine and the part the operator handles most. It carries the lid’s outer surface, takes the knocks the machine collects being carried and dragged, and works with the lower cover to close the bag compartment against the suction the motor is pulling underneath it.

When to Replace It

Replace it when it is cracked, when the surface has been broken through, or when it no longer sits flush on the lower cover. Impact damage is the usual cause — canisters get carried by the lid and dropped on their tops, and a crack that starts at a corner will spread.

Fitting Notes

Check the lower cover for damage at the same time, since a hit hard enough to crack the upper half often marks the lower one too. Make sure the two halves locate together properly and the lid closes squarely onto the tank before the machine goes back into service.
