On rubber sports mats, entrance mats, commercial carpet, and escalator steps, a squeegee cannot work: the surface is uneven, flexible, fibrous, or irregular, and the squeegee either rides over the surface features or gets caught on them. The Vortex solves this with a rotating recovery drum that absorbs liquid on contact as it spins — working like a wringer the solution is pressed into as the machine passes. Can the Vortex really clean rubber sports mats and commercial carpet?
Yes — and this is the feature that distinguishes the Vortex from every other scrubber in the Tornado lineup. The rotating recovery drum picks up moisture from uneven and flexible surfaces that a squeegee cannot follow. On rubber gym flooring the drum recovers moisture from the raised disc surface texture. On commercial carpet the brushes penetrate the pile and the drum pulls moisture from the fiber rather than leaving it behind. On entrance mats the machine cleans through the pile rather than riding over it. The escalator brush accessory extends this to escalator step surfaces. No other Tornado scrubber handles these surface types.

A rotating recovery drum spins and absorbs moisture on contact as the machine passes over the surface, like a sponge roller, then presses the absorbed liquid into the recovery tank.
