What the battery control cable does

It carries the low-current communication and sensing lines the board uses to know what the pack is doing — state of charge, temperature and protection signals. The machine will not run on a pack it cannot talk to, which is why a fault here looks exactly like a dead battery.

Signs it needs replacing

Suspect it when a fully charged pack produces no response, when the machine reports a fault with a pack that works in another machine, or when the fault comes and goes as the cable is moved. Check the connector pins for corrosion or spreading before replacing.

Installation and fit

Remove the pack. Transfer the connectors one at a time, keep the routing clear of the main battery cables, and make sure each connector latches. Test with a known-good pack before closing up.
