What the control board housing does

It keeps dust and moisture off the electronics, holds the board square so its connectors are not strained by vibration, and insulates the board from the metalwork and the operator. On a machine worn on the back, that last job matters.

Signs it needs replacing

Replace it if it is cracked, if a mounting post has broken, if the lid no longer closes fully, or if there are signs of dust ingress around the board. Anything that lets grit reach the board shortens the board’s life, and the board costs many times what the housing does.

Installation and fit

Battery out. Unclip the housing, transfer the board with its connectors noted, and check the new housing closes fully and its seals seat before refitting.
