Tornado Zephyr Motor Protection Filter K28894190 (3 Pack)

The motor protection filter (part# K28894190) is the last barrier between the bag and the Tornado Zephyr’s motor, sold as a pack of three. Tacony catalogues it as a pre filter for the Zephyr.

This is a genuine Tacony OEM part for the Tornado Zephyr. On the factory parts sheet it appears in both the main unit assembly and the accessories sheet.

Compatible Models for the Motor Protection Filter K28894190

• Tornado: TV570-Q03-U Zephyr cordless backpack vacuum

PartSmart lists this part on the Zephyr and on no other machine, so the fit is specific rather than shared. If your machine is a different Tornado cordless model, call 763-535-0770 with the model number and we will find the right part for it.

What the motor protection filter does

It catches whatever gets past the fleece bag — fines, and anything that escapes a bag that has split — before it can reach the motor. A motor is the most expensive part of this machine; this filter is one of the cheapest, and that is the whole point of it.

Signs it needs replacing

Check it every time the bag is changed and replace it when it is visibly loaded or discoloured, immediately after any bag has split, and any time the machine has been run without a bag. Never run the machine without one fitted.

Installation and fit

No tools. Open the machine, lift the old filter from its seat, and press the new one in so it sits flat against the whole face. A filter that is folded or proud lets air past its edge.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should it be changed?

Inspect at every bag change. In heavy commercial use that usually means a new one every few bags.

Tacony calls it a pre filter but the sheet says motor protection filter. Which is it?

The same part. taconyonline names it “Pre Filter, Zephyr, Pack of three” and the factory sheet calls it the motor protection filter — we list it under the factory description so it matches the diagram.

Is it the same as K54140073?

No. K54140073 is a separate pre filter sold in packs of five and appears on the accessories sheet.

Which machines use it?

The Tornado Zephyr TV570-Q03-U only.
