This is the electrical side of the machine: the power cord and its strain relief, the made-up internal leads that carry supply current between the cord, the switch and the loads, and the terminals and fasteners that join them together.
A wiring diagram is not an exploded view, so read it differently from the other sheets on this machine. The drawing shows how the circuit is connected rather than where each piece physically sits, and the numbered callouts point at positions in the circuit. That is also why the parts here have no photographs on their listings — there is no exploded picture of a lead or a terminal to crop from, and a picture of a short black wire would tell you nothing the written specification does not.
Two notes on the table before you order. The row marked † is callout 4, the strain relief, which Tornado’s own table marks Not Shown — the drawing carries no bubble for it, so the table and the drawing agree and nothing is missing. It is also included with the power cord assembly at item 6, so order it on its own only when the cord is sound and just the bushing has failed.
Finally, callout 10. Tornado’s table lists lead 19537 as 6 AWG, which is far heavier conductor than the 14, 16 and 18 gauge leads beside it in the same enclosure and looks like a transposition in the book. We publish the factory figure rather than guessing at a correction, and we will confirm the real gauge with Tornado before the part ships — call 763-535-0770.
Every lead on this sheet is supplied made up, with its terminations crimped at the factory to match the gauge and the terminals it mates with. That is the part of a lead that is easy to underestimate: a hand-made substitute with the wrong crimp looks perfectly acceptable and then works loose under the continuous vibration of a motor and pump running in the same housing. Colour matters too — green is reserved for the protective earth, white for the neutral, black for live — and so does length, because inside a compact enclosure a lead that is too long gets pinched by the cover and one that is too short leaves standing tension on both terminals.
Isolate the machine from the mains before any cover comes off, photograph the wiring before disconnecting anything, pull-test every crimp before it goes back, and fit a new cover gasket so the enclosure seals again. Test on an earth-leakage protected supply before the machine returns to service.

Tornado 98220 Wiring Diagram Frequently Asked Questions
Why do the wiring parts have no photographs?
Because a wiring diagram is a circuit drawing, not an exploded parts view, so there is nothing on the sheet to crop a part photograph from. The parts themselves are leads, terminals and a bushing, and a photograph of a short black wire would tell you less than the written gauge, length and colour already do. Order by part number and the specification in the table.
Why is there no bubble 4 on the Tornado 98220 wiring diagram?
There is not supposed to be. Tornado’s own parts table marks the strain relief at callout 4 as Not Shown, so the table and the drawing agree and nothing has been left out. That part is also supplied with the power cord assembly, so order it separately only when the cord is sound and just the bushing has failed.
Can I make up my own leads instead of buying them?
We would not recommend it. Each lead is supplied with terminations crimped at the factory to match both the conductor gauge and the terminals it mates with, and a hand-made substitute with the wrong crimp looks perfectly acceptable and then works loose under the vibration of a motor and pump running in the same housing. The length is a specification as well: too long and the cover pinches it, too short and both terminals stay under tension.
