My Tornado Tempest has stopped picking up — where do I start?
Work through the seal path in order of cost. Check the main cover gasket (part# K53650830) and the cover strap (part# K50200110) first, then the main skirt (part# K50321810) at the floor. All three are inexpensive and all three cause the same gradual loss of pickup across the full width. Only then look at the cover itself.
How do I know if the main skirt needs replacing?
Set the machine on a level floor and look along its full width. If the skirt no longer contacts the floor everywhere, or is worn to a wave rather than a straight edge, it needs renewing — and uneven wear usually means the skirt plate (part# K50979670) is bent as well.
Do I need bin liners in the Tempest hopper?
They are optional but they make emptying quicker and far less dusty. The disposable bin liner bags are part# K28843580, ten to a pack, and they are held open by the two debris bag clamps (part# K50978040).
