The CleanMax CPU-3N pedal shaft (part# B020-0300) is the pivot rod the foot pedal and height-adjust linkage rotate on inside the pedal frame. It is the axle that ties the pedal, spring and frame together, so every press of the height pedal turns on this shaft.

Replace the pedal shaft when it has worn a groove, bent, or seized so the pedal binds, grinds or no longer moves smoothly through its height positions. A worn shaft is a common hidden cause of a sloppy pedal that a new spring alone does not fix, because the extra clearance lets the pedal rock instead of pivoting cleanly. It slides out of the pedal frame once the linkage is freed and the new shaft drops straight in.
