The Vacuum Pre-Filter (part# 30088) is the genuine Tacony OEM secondary filter that sits between the bag and the vacuum motor on the Tornado CK 3030 wide-area vacuum (Model 93030).

Its job is to catch whatever gets past the bag before that debris reaches the motor. A through-flow vacuum motor is cooled by the air it moves, and the same air carries fine dust straight onto the armature and bearings if nothing intercepts it. The pre-filter is the last line of defence, and at a couple of dollars it is by far the cheapest part protecting the most expensive one.
