Back Plate B352-0443

$22.99

Genuine Tacony OEM back plate, part number B352-0443, for 6-quart Tornado Pac-Vac, CleanMax CMBP and Powr-Flite backpack vacuums. Closes the back of the canister and carries the harness. Ten-quart machines take B352-7743.

The back plate (part# B352-0443) is a genuine Tacony OEM replacement part for six-quart backpack vacuums, compatible with multiple models across the Tornado, CleanMax and Powr-Flite ranges. It is the moulded panel that closes the back of the canister and forms the flat surface the harness mounts to — the part of the machine that actually rests against the operator all shift.

Compatible Models for the Back Plate

This part is a genuine Tacony OEM component shared across multiple brands and models:

Six-quart machines only — check your capacity first

This is the six-quart part. Tacony’s combined parts diagram lists the six-quart and ten-quart versions under the same item number, which makes them easy to confuse when ordering.

If your machine is a ten-quart — the Tornado Pac-Vac 10 Aircomfort (93014), the discontinued PV 10 Back Vacuum (93034) or the Powr-Flite PF1000BP — you need the 10-quart back plate, part# B352-7743, not this one. Call us on 763-535-0770 if you are not sure which capacity you have and we will confirm it from your model number.

What the back plate does

The back plate has two jobs that pull in opposite directions. Structurally it is the anchor: the harness frame bolts through it, so every pound of a loaded machine and every twist of an operator’s torso is carried by this panel and its fasteners. Functionally it is also part of the sealed canister, so it has to stay flat and true against its gasket while taking that load.

That combination is why back plates crack rather than wear. The failure almost always starts at a mounting boss, where load concentrates, and then runs outward as a hairline that opens under weight and closes when the machine is set down — which is exactly why it is easy to miss on a bench inspection.

When to replace the back plate

Replace it if you find any crack radiating from a harness mounting point, if a mounting boss has stripped or pulled through, if the panel flexes visibly when the loaded machine is lifted by the harness, or if it no longer sits flat against the canister and you can see a gap at the joint.

A cracked back plate is worth treating as urgent rather than routine. It is a load-bearing part worn on somebody’s back, and when one lets go it usually does so with a full canister attached. Repairs with adhesive or plate-and-bolt fixes do not restore the original strength at a boss and tend to fail again in the same place.

Check the harness frame and its hardware at the same time. A back plate that cracked early often did so because a loose or missing fastener let the harness work against one boss instead of spreading load across all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the back plate (part# B352-0443) do?

It closes the back of the six-quart canister and carries the harness. It is both a sealing panel and the structural anchor for everything the operator wears the machine by.

How do I know if my back plate (part# B352-0443) needs replacing?

Look for cracks radiating from a harness mounting point, a stripped or pulled-through mounting boss, visible flex when the loaded machine is lifted by the harness, or a gap where the plate should sit flat against the canister.

Can a cracked back plate be repaired instead of replaced?

We do not recommend it. This is a load-bearing part carried on an operator’s back, and adhesive or plate-and-bolt repairs do not restore original strength at a mounting boss. Repaired plates typically fail again in the same place, usually with a full canister attached.
