The Female Shoulder Rivet A352-9401 is a genuine Tacony OEM harness fastener shared across Tornado and Powr-Flite backpack vacuums. It is the threaded half of the two-part shoulder rivet: a moulded body with a brass insert that the male rivet (A352-9402) threads into from the opposite side, clamping the shoulder strap and the harness frame together. Four pairs carry the shoulder harness on a Pac-Vac.
These rivets are the anchor points for everything the operator feels. When one lets go, the symptom is a shoulder strap that will not stay tight no matter how it is adjusted, or a harness that sits crooked and loads one shoulder. The usual causes are a crossed or stripped brass thread from over-tightening, and a cracked flange from a drop. Neither is repairable, and neither is worth ignoring: a harness anchor that fails on a full 10-quart machine drops it. Inspect all four pairs whenever the harness is off, and replace any rivet that spins in its hole, will not pull up tight, or shows a damaged thread.

Fitting the rivet
The female rivet is reference 38 in the Tornado Pac-Vac parts book, paired with the male rivet at 36. Work one anchor at a time so the harness cannot shift position on you. Start the male half into the brass insert by hand and make sure it is running true before you put a driver on it — crossing this thread is the single most common way these get destroyed, and it happens in about a quarter turn. Snug it firmly, then stop; the moulded flange is not designed to be crushed. Replace both halves as a pair and inspect the tool belt clips (X1241) and the harness frame (34861) while you are in there. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado and Powr-Flite equipment since 1956. Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Female Shoulder Rivet (part# A352-9401) do?
It is the threaded half of the two-part rivet that anchors the shoulder harness to the machine body. The male rivet (A352-9402) passes through the harness strap and body from one side and threads into this female half from the other, clamping the strap between them. Four pairs are used per machine.
How do I know if my Female Shoulder Rivet needs replacing?
Replace it if the brass thread inside is stripped or crossed, if the plastic flange is cracked, or if the rivet spins in its hole instead of pulling up tight. The tell in service is a shoulder strap that works loose no matter how much you tighten it – the strap is not the problem, the anchor is.
What models is the Female Shoulder Rivet (part# A352-9401) compatible with?
Tornado Pac-Vac 6 Aircomfort 93012 and 93012B, Pac-Vac 10 Aircomfort 93014 and 93014B, and Pac-Vac 6 Roam 93016, 93016B-1 and 93016C-1; and Powr-Flite Comfort Pro backpacks BP6P, BP6S and BP10P plus the Comfort Pro Freedom CPF6P-1C.
Do I need the male rivet as well?
Usually yes. The two halves wear as a pair and the failure is normally a crossed thread, which damages both. If you are replacing a shoulder anchor, order the male rivet A352-9402 at the same time – together they are still a couple of dollars against a harness that will not stay tight.
