The Handle Tube (part# B431-4700B) is the full-length tube that connects the handle assembly at the top to the bag mount and base at the bottom on the Tornado CK-LW 13/1 ProLite, models 97130 (115V) and 97131 (230V), and on the Powr-Flite PF62EC.

The tube is the machine’s backbone. Everything the operator does — pushing, pulling, leaning the machine back onto its wheels — is transmitted through it, and the cord hooks are mounted on it. What ends a tube is almost always a single event rather than wear: a machine dropped down a stairwell, or caught in a doorway and levered. A tube with a visible bow will never track straight again, because the base and the handle are no longer in the same plane, and the operator ends up fighting the machine on every pass.

When to replace it

Sight down the tube from the handle end. Any bend you can see is a bend that matters. Check the socket at each end too: an elongated or split screw hole lets the tube rotate under load, which feels like a loose handle even when the handle itself is sound. Replacing the tube means taking off the upper and front cord hooks and the lower cord clip, so have those in front of you — they are inexpensive and the clips are often brittle by the time a tube needs changing.

Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado equipment since 1956. Call 763-535-0770 with your model and serial number and we will confirm the part before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which machines does this tube fit?

The Tornado CK-LW 13/1 ProLite, models 97130 and 97131, and the Powr-Flite PF62EC.

Do the cord hooks come with the tube?

No. The upper cord hook is B431-4814, the front cord hook is B431-4914 and the lower cord clip is B431-4114B. All three are ordered separately and all three are worth replacing at the same time.

My handle feels loose but the tube looks straight. What else could it be?

Check the screw hole at the top of the tube and the socket in the handle assembly, part C431-4400C. An elongated hole in either lets the joint move, and that reads as a loose handle even though nothing is bent.
