Metal Lid Latch A352-3300

$6.99

Genuine Tacony OEM metal lid latch, part number A352-3300, for Tornado Pac-Vac, CleanMax CMBP, Powr-Flite and Carpet Pro backpack vacuums. Clamps the top cover onto the body seal. Washers and rivets not included.

The metal lid latch (part# A352-3300) is a genuine Tacony OEM replacement part fitted to a wider range of machines than almost any other part in the backpack line. It is the sprung metal catch that pulls the top cover down onto its seal and holds it there. Note that washers and rivets are not included with this part.

Compatible Models for the Metal Lid Latch

This part is a genuine Tacony OEM component shared across four brands and more than fifteen machines:

What the latch does

The latch is a clamping device, not just a fastener. It pulls the lid down hard enough to compress the body seal, and that compression is what makes the canister airtight. A latch that closes but no longer pulls tight leaves the lid resting on the seal instead of squeezing it, and the machine loses suction even though everything looks correctly assembled.

This is the most common misdiagnosis on a backpack vacuum. An operator reports weak suction, the technician replaces the bag and the filters, nothing improves, and the actual fault is a latch that has lost its spring tension or a hook that has worn round.

When to replace the latch

Replace it when the lid can be lifted or rocked with the latch closed, when the latch closes with noticeably less resistance than it used to, when the hook or the catch shows visible wear or deformation, or when the spring has weakened enough that the latch no longer snaps shut positively.

Also replace it if the lid has to be pressed down by hand before the latch will engage. That means the latch is no longer able to do the pulling work itself, and it will keep getting worse.

Check the body seal (part# B352-1200) at the same time. A worn latch and a flattened seal produce the same symptom, they often wear together, and replacing one while leaving the other means doing the job twice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are washers and rivets included with the latch (part# A352-3300)?

No. The latch is supplied on its own. If your existing washers or rivets are damaged, order those separately or call us and we will confirm what you need.

How do I know if my latch (part# A352-3300) needs replacing?

The lid can be lifted or rocked while the latch is closed, the latch closes with less resistance than it used to, the hook or catch looks worn or bent, or you have to press the lid down by hand before it will engage.

Could a bad latch be why my vacuum lost suction?

Very often, yes. The latch is what compresses the body seal, and a latch that closes without pulling tight leaves the canister leaking. It is the most common cause of weak suction that survives a new bag and clean filters.
