Miele SF-AA 50-1 Active AirClean Filter 12785350

The SF-AA 50-1 Active AirClean Filter (part# 12785350) is Miele’s genuine odor-control exhaust filter for Guard S1, M1 and L1, Complete C2 and C3, and Compact C1 and C2 canister vacuums. Its activated charcoal layer is aimed at the smells a vacuum can blow back into a room — pets, smoke and cooking.

What the SF-AA 50-1 Active AirClean Filter Does

Miele recommends it for households with pets or smokers. The Active AirClean filter combines an activated charcoal layer with a fine-dust filter media, so it neutralizes odors while still trapping fine dust before the air leaves the canister. It is the filter Miele installs on the Guard L1 Cat & Dog, Guard M1 Cat & Dog and Guard M1 AllFloor, and it can replace the standard or Super AirClean filter on any Guard, Complete C2/C3 or Compact canister for owners who notice a smell when they vacuum. It is not a HEPA filter — households that need allergen filtration should choose the SF-HA 50-1 instead.

When to Replace the SF-AA 50-1 Active AirClean Filter

Replace it about once a year with normal use, and sooner in multi-pet homes: once the charcoal is saturated the odor control drops off noticeably, which is usually the first sign it is due. This version has no TimeStrip, so mark the install date.

Choose between odor control (this filter) and HEPA allergen filtration (SF-HA 50-1) — both fit the same slot, and only one is installed at a time.
