The Motor Cap B352-0700 is a genuine Tacony OEM replacement part compatible with multiple backpack vacuum models across the Tornado, CleanMax and Powr-Flite lines. It is the moulded cap that closes off the top of the motor stack inside the vacuum body, seated between the body seal above it and the top motor shroud seal below. Its job is to locate and cover the motor so that suction is pulled through the filtration path rather than leaking around the motor housing, and so that the motor stays clamped square in the body instead of shifting under vibration.
Because the cap is a structural part of that stack rather than a wear item, a failure usually shows up as a performance complaint instead of an obvious breakage. Owners typically notice weaker suction at the hose cuff, a change in motor pitch, a rattle or buzz from the body under load, or fine dust appearing on the outside of the motor housing when the machine is opened for service. All of those point at air bypassing the cap. Replace it any time you find the cap cracked around its rim, distorted from heat, chipped where it seats, or missing entirely after a previous repair.

Replacing the cap
Access is from the motor side of the body: unplug the machine (or remove the battery on cordless Roam and CMBP-6CL units), lift out the filter and bag assembly, and work down through the body seal and top motor shroud until the cap is exposed. Note the orientation before you lift it — it only seats one way. Inspect the neighbouring seals while you are in there; a cap that failed from heat has usually taken the adjacent gasket with it, and replacing both at once avoids opening the machine twice. Refit the stack in order and check that the cap sits flat all the way round before you close the body.
Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado, CleanMax and Powr-Flite equipment since 1956. Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Motor Cap (part# B352-0700) do on a Tacony backpack vacuum?
It caps the top of the motor stack inside the vacuum body. The cap seals the motor compartment so all airflow is drawn through the bag and filter rather than leaking around the motor, and it holds the motor located and square under the body seal so it cannot move under vibration.
How do I know if my Motor Cap needs replacing?
Look for cracks around the rim, heat distortion, or chipping where the cap seats. The usual symptoms are reduced suction that does not improve with a new bag or clean filter, a rattle or altered motor note under load, and fine dust found on the outside of the motor housing when the machine is opened.
What models is the Motor Cap (part# B352-0700) compatible with?
Tornado Pac-Vac 6 Aircomfort 93012 and 93012B, Pac-Vac 10 Aircomfort 93014 and 93014B, and Pac-Vac 6 Roam 93016, 93016B-1 and 93016C-1; CleanMax CMBP-6.2 and CMBP-6CL; and Powr-Flite PF600BP, PF1000BP and PF600BPG. It is one Tacony part number used across all of them.
