Motor Chamber Seal 39256

This is the seal that closes the motor chamber on the Tornado TV 2 SS dry canister and the Simplicity Brio. One Tacony number covers both machines. It is a small, cheap part doing a job that decides both how well the machine filters and how loud it is.

What the Motor Chamber Seal Does

Filtration only works if every route around the filter is closed, and this seal closes the one at the motor chamber. When it hardens or tears, air takes the short way round — the machine keeps making its usual noise and appears to work, while fine dust goes past the filter and out into the room, and straight through the motor on the way.

Where It Sits on the Machine

It seats between the motor chamber and its mating face in the lower body, shown on the TV 2 SS main assembly diagram next to the motor chamber itself.

When to Replace It

Replace the seal whenever the motor chamber is opened, and any time it has gone hard, torn or taken a permanent set. Seals stiffen with age whether or not the machine works hard, so age matters as much as hours. If you are chasing dust in the room with a filter you know is good, this is one of the first places to look.

Fitting Notes

Clean both sealing faces before fitting — compacted dust holds a new seal off exactly as effectively as a worn one. Seat it along its whole length without stretching it, and make sure the chamber closes evenly onto it rather than being pulled down at one corner.
