The Motor Seal B352-5500 is a genuine Tacony OEM replacement part compatible with multiple Tornado and Powr-Flite backpack vacuum models. It is the .125 inch polyurethane gasket that seats between the bottom motor shroud and the motor, closing the last joint in the airflow path and isolating motor vibration from the machine body. It is a small part with a large effect: everything the vacuum picks up has to travel through a sealed path, and this seal is one of the places that path most often opens up as a machine ages.
Polyurethane hardens with heat cycling. After a few years of daily commercial use the seal loses its compression set, goes glassy at the surface and eventually cracks around its inner edge. When that happens, air bleeds in around the motor instead of being drawn through the bag and filter. The operator notices it as suction that will not come back no matter how many new bags go in, a motor that sounds harsher and louder under load, and noticeably more vibration through the harness. Replace the seal whenever the machine is opened for motor work, whenever it has flattened permanently, and any time it is cracked, torn, hardened or heat-glazed.

Fitting the seal
The seal sits at reference 19 in the Tornado Pac-Vac parts book, in the stack between the top motor shroud above and the motor below. Unplug the machine, lift out the bag and filter assembly and work down through the body until the motor stack is exposed, keeping the order of the parts as you go. Seat the new seal flat all the way round before the motor goes back on — a seal pinched or twisted on refit leaks just as badly as a worn one. While you are in there, check the bottom motor shroud seal and the body seal; they age at the same rate and doing all three at once saves opening the machine twice. Twin City Vacuum has been selling and servicing Tornado and Powr-Flite equipment since 1956. Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Motor Seal (part# B352-5500) do on a Tacony backpack vacuum?
It is the flat polyurethane gasket that sits directly under the motor inside the body, between the bottom motor shroud and the motor itself. It seals that joint so the whole airflow path stays closed, and it damps motor vibration into the body instead of letting it transmit straight through to the operator’s back.
How do I know if my Motor Seal needs replacing?
Take it out and lay it flat. A serviceable seal is even and springy; a failed one is compressed flat in a ring, hardened and shiny from heat, cracked at the edge, or torn. The symptoms are suction that does not recover with a new bag and clean filters, a louder and buzzier motor note, and vibration you can feel through the harness.
What models is the Motor Seal (part# B352-5500) compatible with?
Tornado Pac-Vac 6 Aircomfort 93012 and 93012B, Tornado Pac-Vac 10 Aircomfort 93014 and 93014B, and Powr-Flite PF600BP, PF1000BP and PF600BPG backpack vacuums. It is one Tacony part number across all of them.
Is B352-5500 the same as the older B352-2000 motor seal?
No. B352-2000 is the prior version of this seal and B352-5500 is the current .125 polyurethane part that supersedes it. If your parts book or an old order shows B352-2000, order B352-5500 instead.
How do I order the Motor Seal (part# B352-5500) or get help?
